I really need to stop picking themes based on how they look... And I really wish Envato would provide some sort of code preview before buying themes. While it does look nice, the Jekyll implementation on this theme is tragic. The templating and use of includes is baffling and not effective (ie: the head HTML items are repeated in each layout instead of using a base layout with proper includes). There are frontmatter vars which aren't even used and I can see multiple places where variables should exist but instead use hardcoded text (page titles are all hardcoded - that's literally the first place vars should be used). It's also very frustrating that this theme uses basic CSS and not something like SASS, SCSS, or even LESS. All of the issues I have with this theme could have been implemented easily with some minimal planning and a couple hours of effort, but now I'll have to spend my time correcting these problems instead of bootstrapping a site. - for reference, I've been developing and deploying Jekyll sites professionally for more than 5 years now.
